The cream and tortoiseshell padded out of camp, their head held high. They glanced over at their patrol mate, raising an eyebrow. Minnow was... Interesting to say the least. The ginger cat was long and lithe, and yet he had decided to be a cave guard rather than a prey hunter. Fire Lily admired this choice, as it was obviously the superior one, and they walked alongside their patrol companion, tail held high.
As they walked, Fire Lily could not help but glance at the other cat every once in a while. They were really quite beautiful as they walked, their long limbs moving with grace and delicacy that Fire Lily themselves lacked. Hm... How interesting.
While the admitted to being a picky she-cat when it came to their mate choices, Fire Lily did not think the expectations were that hard to meet! Really, all they were looking for was a strong, confident tom with a perfect body to compliment Fire Lily's own. Oh, and they had to be a cave guard. They did not want any of their kits growing up prey hunters after all!
As they reached the meadow Fire Lily gazed across the vast expanse of grass and flowers. Really, it was the furthest you could see in one place on the mountain. Grinning, the short she-cat padded forward, their blue eyes flashing as the frolicked through the grass. "Look!" They cried, acting oddly child like as they pointed to a bright orange flower, 'This is what I was named after!"
Minnow Shoal in Shallow Water shifted uneasily, the morning capturing their focus. The breezy, bitter winds lashing their pelt and catching the thin, ruddy strands, tugging gently. They exhaled softly, gazing up towards the vast, clouded abyss. Somewhat grey and darkened. It was if the sun was disguising itself with foreboding, charcoal clouds. What an ill day. My favorite season has passed, and now what lies ahead of all is leaf-bare. The most terrible season. Where allegiances might need to help out each other rather than despise and disgust... He pondered, a season where various die of what most identify as Greencough... and they soon were broken from their thoughts, catching the eye of Fire Lily...admiring them?
What might you be looking at...He wondered, rolling his eyes internally. As the tall, lithesome physique sauntered forwards, they gazed ahead, trying to ignore the glances from the opposing Cave-Guard. As the stroll elongated, Minnow Shoal grew emotionless, their expression dull yet harsh and brutal. They were clearly bored. They were wanting more action, something fatal. The low temperature's bitterness began to pick and nip at Minnow's exposed skin, causing them to shudder a tad. They despised the cold like no other, especially leaf-bare itself. Thankfully it wasn't leaf-bare just yet. But it was close.
Suddenly, the thin, silenced air was snapped by the vocals of Fire Lily. Such a childish demeanor, or so it seemed. They remained silent before their surprisingly feminine-like tone spoke, "Interesting." He uttered, unsure of what else to say.

The almost calico she-cat glanced up at their companion, their mood shifting instantly at the cats word. "Interesting? Soon they'll look exactly like my name!" They snapped, shifting from innocent and childish to bitter in a heartbeat. While this cat was attractive Fire Lily could not help but get annoyed with them. They noticed the tom's slight discomfort, no longer envying their thin fur. Fire Lily's own pelt was thick and soft, warm enough to keep them warm in the cold leaf-bare and thin enough to keep them from overheating in the warm full-leaf.
Leaf-bare was actually one of Fire Lily's favourite season. It was when creatures and cats alike became more desperate, meaning more skirmishes. During Full-leaf when prey was plenty there were rarely fights, and Fire Lily found it immensely boring. They were so excited for Koi's first leaf-bare! She would learn so much from her wonderful aunt.
Fire Lily flicked her tail, sitting down in the grass. It was a yellow colour now but it was still long, long enough to reach Fire Lily's head. Granted they were shorter than the average feline. Their thoughts drifted again to Minnow, considering them. The ginger cat was almost the exact physical opposite of Fire Lily. Which was perfect, it gave their kits a chance to not have Lily's weird, stubby legs. The russet cat was tall, lithe and dark where the she-cat was short, stocky and light. Their kits would have the perfect combination of traits she was sure! They would be the perfect cave guards.
Minnow Shoal in Shallow Water blinked at the opposing cave-guard’s sudden burst and change of attitude. They couldn’t help but roll their eyes, more in a whimsical demeanor of anything. He wasn’t being mean, nor were they in a bad mood. Luckily, Minnow was actually in a decent mood for once. They felt content. Relaxed. It seemed this cat had made them feel different, less tense and bitter. They shook their head and sighed softly, ”my bad.” They apologized. Their tone was soft and light. They meant his apology, and that was rare for this tom to do.
Gazing at the calico, they observed her features. The stocky legs and bulkier structure and physique. They eventually met with her eyes, and looked away instantly, huffing. They weren't going to admire someone and instantly take a liking, but they would admit they found them unique in a few ways. They never seen a calico with shorter legs, first of all. They admired her choice of being a cave-guard. It fit her. But them? They would seem more like a prey-Hunter, but no, they decided to be a cave-guard. Much more to do. It’d keep them in shape and active at almost all times.
Watching as Fire Lily sat down, Minnow Shoal sat down beside her, towering over the shorter feline. Though, they didn’t mind. They parted their maw, wanting to start some sort of conversation. ”I’m sorry if I had offended you,” They uttered apprehensively.

The she-cat calmed at the toms words, side eyeing them as they sat down. They straightened, lifting their head so the ginger cat did not loom over them so dramatically. It was attractive, but Fire Lily did not like feeling that someone was above them.
"You didn't offend me," they assured, voice indignant. So many different thoughts and emotions were constantly flowing through the she-cats head, making it hard to decide how they felt about their companion. Naturally, she could not have a mate she did not get along with.
The other cat seemed to be trying to remedy the situation, and Lily did appreciate this. Perhaps this could be saved after all. "So, how are you then?" they asked, hating formalities but unsure what else to say. Formalities were often deemed unnecessary by the calico, but this conversation seemed tense enough without the she-cats sour opinions.
